# Lettershape > Lettershape is a browser-based email design tool for businesses, marketers, designers, and people creating emails for clients. Create a branded email without writing code, save and reuse the layout, then download or copy it into an existing email service to send. Free includes 3 saved designs, all 22+ templates, the visual editor, and every export format. Paid plans add more saved designs and AI tools for individual text and image blocks. The links below point to the site's HTML pages unless another format is named. **What customers use Lettershape for** - Branded newsletters with a layout that can be reused for the next issue. - Promotions, product launches, and software feature announcements. - Welcome emails for new subscribers, members, and account holders. - Event invitations and webinar announcements. - Email designs for clients who use different sending services. - Layouts for receipts, sign-in codes, reports, cart reminders, and feedback requests. The customer's shop, application, or sending service must supply real customer data, generate any verification codes, decide when to send, and deliver these messages. **Designing and saving an email** 1. Create a free account in the application and verify your email address. 2. Choose a template or start with a blank email. 3. Add your own text, images, links, branding, and business details. 4. Arrange the content and check the desktop and mobile previews. 5. Click Save. Changes are not saved automatically. 6. Open Export email and choose a download or copy option for your sending tool. 7. Import or paste the design into that tool, finish its sender and subscriber settings, and send yourself a test. A saved email design is called a project in the application. Projects can be reopened, renamed, and duplicated. Reusing a project lets the customer keep its fonts, colors, and layout while changing the content. Projects belong to an individual account; shared team workspaces and simultaneous editing are not currently included. **Editor capabilities** - Eleven content block types: text, images, buttons, columns, cards, headers, dividers, spacers, social links, custom HTML, and footers. - Visual text editing for headings, paragraphs, links, lists, emphasis, and quotes, including text inside columns. - Optional HTML & CSS text editing and a custom HTML block for users who want to work with code. - Global Styles for fonts, colors, and the overall layout, plus individual section controls for backgrounds, alignment, and spacing. - Uploads for JPEG, PNG, and WebP images, as well as images linked from public HTTPS addresses. - A 600-pixel desktop preview and a 375-pixel mobile preview. Columns stack in the mobile view so the reading order can be checked. - Exported layouts include responsive rules and backup fonts. Browser previews do not test every inbox. Email apps differ in their support for fonts, images, and layout rules, so the received email should be tested through the intended sending tool. **Plans and pricing** Prices are in USD. Free has no time limit and requires no credit card. Customers can edit and export the same eligible saved designs repeatedly. Saved-design limits are not monthly quotas. The recent AI image gallery is separate from the number of images that can be generated during a paid period. **AI scope and usage limits** AI is available on Creator and Pro. It can draft headings, paragraphs, lists, and button labels, or generate an image for a section of the email. Customers describe what they need, choose a tone where applicable, and edit the result. They still select and arrange the layout. Whole-email generation from one prompt is not currently available. The listed generation counts are upper limits, not guaranteed quantities. A separate monthly AI cost limit can stop both text and image generation before the counts are reached. Temporary limits can also require waiting between requests or while a previous request is checked. The public pricing page describes these conditions; it does not publish the monetary value of the separate AI cost limit. A completed draft or image counts even when the customer does not use it. A failed request does not consume a successful draft or image count, but its cost may count toward the separate monthly AI cost limit. Adding a generated text draft to the email does not use another generation. Allowances renew after Lettershape confirms a monthly subscription payment, not simply on the first day of a calendar month. Unused generations do not carry over. **Cancellation, plan changes, and archived designs** Cancellation stops the next renewal. Paid access continues until the end date shown in the account, after which the account returns to Free unless another paid subscription applies. Cancellation does not automatically refund a payment or delete saved designs and hosted images. To change paid plans, customers cancel the current subscription and choose a replacement in Plan & billing. The new subscription charges its full monthly price immediately, including when time remains on the previous paid period. There is no automatic credit for the remaining time. A confirmed replacement payment starts a fresh AI allowance without carrying over unused generations. If a downgrade leaves more designs than the new plan allows, the customer must choose which remain editable before creating, editing, or exporting: 3 on Free, 50 on Creator, or 200 on Pro. The rest remain saved in a view-only archive and require an upgrade to edit or export again. This selection stays fixed until the plan's project limit changes. Deleting an editable design creates room for a new design but does not make an archived design editable. Previously downloaded files remain available to use. **Export formats and sending tools** - HTML file download: import the email into a service that accepts custom HTML templates. - HTML source copy: copy the email code into a compatible editor or import field. - Formatted copy: paste the email's formatted text, images, and links into a new message. Pasting can change the layout, so check a test email. - Plain-text copy: copy the words without the visual layout. - EML download: save a message file containing the subject, HTML content, and a plain-text version. In Thunderbird, open it and choose Edit as New to prepare an editable outgoing message. The export menu includes instructions for Mailchimp, Brevo, Klaviyo, Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird. These are manual file imports or clipboard transfers, not native account connections or automatic campaign transfers. Mailchimp and Klaviyo use HTML file imports; Brevo has an HTML source-copy workflow. Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird have formatted-copy instructions. Thunderbird also supports the EML workflow and, where available in its version and settings, Insert > HTML. Some sending services require a paid plan for custom HTML imports. Their current plan requirements and import instructions should be checked separately from Lettershape's pricing. An imported Lettershape email does not become Mailchimp drag-and-drop blocks. Make layout changes in Lettershape and import a new file, or edit the code in Mailchimp where supported. Add Mailchimp's required footer, unsubscribe link, and merge tags in Mailchimp. Lettershape does not insert service-specific subscriber tags or process unsubscribe requests. Lettershape does not send campaigns, manage mailing lists, schedule delivery, run signup or cart-recovery automations, or track recipient opens and clicks. The sending service handles those tasks. A mail app can be used for individual messages; subscriber campaigns need a service that manages subscriptions and unsubscribe requests. Export activity shown in the Lettershape dashboard is a record of downloads and copies, not campaign analytics. **Images, templates, and public examples** Lettershape hosts uploaded and AI-generated images. Images in exported emails load from public web addresses rather than being embedded image attachments. Anyone with a public image URL may be able to view it. Images linked from another website depend on that website keeping the files accessible without a login or an expiring link. Cancelling a subscription does not itself delete the account, saved designs, or hosted images. Account-deletion requests are handled through support@lattyinteractive.com. Within 30 days after verifying a request, Lettershape deletes the account information, saved designs, and hosted images not used in exports, subject to the limited required-record exceptions below. Images used in exports are protected from gallery deletion and remain available after account deletion so they can continue to appear in sent emails, unless their owner requests removal. Include image removal in the account-deletion request or contact support separately. Verified image-removal requests are processed within 30 days. Removed images stop loading in previously sent emails. This is not a promise of permanent hosting. Accounts are deleted after 24 months without account activity, with at least 30 days' advance notice to the account email address. Signing in during the notice period keeps the account active. This applies to Free and paid accounts, including accounts that return to Free after cancellation. Account information, saved designs, and images not used in exports are deleted; exported images remain available unless removal is requested. Lettershape retains only limited billing, legal, and security records necessary for legal obligations, dispute resolution, or preventing fraud and abuse, for as long as those purposes require. Apart from those records and retained exported images, deleted data is removed from backups within the same 30-day deletion timeframe. For inactive-account deletion, backup removal is completed within 30 days after account deletion. The privacy notice and terms describe these rules. Website examples contain fictional brands, offers, dates, codes, figures, and other sample details. They are not customer testimonials, campaign results, working order records, or live verification codes. The template library in the application contains the editable designs. Template links from this website open the application's full library, where the customer finds and selects the design. Replace example content before sending an email. The on-page editor demonstration only illustrates selected editing controls, such as heading and button text, palette, alignment, and preview size. Its changes are not saved or transferred into a new account. Reloading restores the sample. It is separate from the full application and its saved projects. **Current availability and planned additions** Lettershape is available in its web application. The public roadmap lists planned editor and AI improvements, additional templates, a ChatGPT connection, MCP access for compatible AI assistants, and an export API. The ChatGPT connection, MCP access, and public export API are not currently available. No release dates or complete action lists have been announced.
