Use your email design in Thunderbird.

Start by copying your formatted email into a new Thunderbird message. You can also download a message file. Both let you send from your usual account.

Choose a template, replace the sample content, check desktop and mobile previews, and save your project.

COPY

Paste into Thunderbird.

Open Export email, choose Thunderbird, and follow the formatted-copy instructions.

TEST

Send yourself a test.

Add the subject in Thunderbird and send to your own address. Check the received email.

Copy and paste the formatted email.

In Thunderbird's account settings, enable composing messages in HTML so images and styled text can appear. In Lettershape, copy the formatted email and allow clipboard access if asked. Paste normally into a new message; Paste Without Formatting removes the design.

If pasting fails, try a message file.

Download the EML file, which contains your subject and email content. Open it with Thunderbird and choose Edit as New. Check the sender, subject, and recipients before sending. If double-clicking opens another app, use your computer's Open With menu to choose Thunderbird.

You can also insert HTML code.

Copy the HTML source from Lettershape. If your version of Thunderbird has Insert > HTML in an HTML message window, paste the code there. Pasting code directly into the message body displays the code as text.

Check the email after it arrives.

Open your test on a phone as well as a computer. Check links and text size, then hide remote images to make sure essential details are still readable. If the layout changes, update your saved design and test again.

Frequently asked questions

Before you create an account

Do I need a Thunderbird extension?

No extension is needed. Use formatted copy, a downloaded EML file, or Thunderbird’s Insert > HTML option. The exact menus depend on your Thunderbird version.

Why did the paste lose its formatting?

Check that Thunderbird is composing in HTML and that you used a normal paste. Allow clipboard access in your browser if asked. If it still loses formatting, try the EML file or Insert > HTML option.

Does this send through Lettershape?

No. Thunderbird sends through your own mail account. For campaigns to a subscriber list, use an email marketing service that handles subscriptions and unsubscribe requests.
